The Battle is the LORD's - 40 Pack

SKU: 21

It is impossible to lose a battle with the LORD on your side.

The Battle is the LORD's

For years I've heard people say, “We're fighting a losing battle.” That may be true to some, but to the Christian, that statement is false! According to the Bible, “The battle is the Lord's!” (1 Samuel 17:47). It is an impossibility to lose a battle with the Lord on your side. In fact, when Satan (the prince the power of this world) tried to overthrow God due to pride, vanity, and sin, he and his angels were cast out of heaven (Revelation 12:9). Romans 13:1 proclaims, “there is no power but of God.” And Exodus 14:14 declares, “The Lord shall fight for you.”

There is a truth, to be sure, that you will always lose the fight if you leave the Lord out of the battle. While in elementary school, I had a fight with a kid that was twice my size. It wasn't actually a fight because I was the only one being beat up. As I recall, this kid, whose name was Buster, was on top of me with his full weight on my arms and his fist in my face. It was definitely a memorable moment in my life. While lying there on the ground, I did all I could do to get free. At the point of giving in and thinking that this was it, that it was all over but the crying, I saw another pair of fists flying. It was my younger brother, Richard, taking on the enemy and coming to the rescue of someone he loved, believing that I didn't have the strength or the willpower to defend myself. It's hard to describe how my heart felt knowing that someone I loved was fighting my battle for me, wanting to keep me from harm.

Our God loves us so much that, “when we were yet without strength, in due time (at the right time) Christ died for the ungodly (morally depraved mankind, wickedness introduced through the fall of man)” (Romans 5:6). Romans 5:12 states that as descendants of Adam we are all sinners, that is “by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world.” And Romans 5:8 says, “God commendeth (demonstrates) His love toward (for) us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

There are those times when we feel like life is not fair due to some unforeseen circumstance. The Bible tells us, “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial (spiritual testing) which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you” (1 Peter 4:12). What I have found to be true of many people is that they give up just before the victory. They “throw in the towel” (an old boxing phrase) too soon, and therefore lose out on receiving the blessing that God had in store for them or their families. The apostle Paul says, “for I know Whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day” (2 Timothy 1:12).

The devil knows his future. According to Revelation 20:10, the devil and his fallen angels face eternity in the lake of fire: “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” Satan would like you to quit the battle. He would like you to stop believing in God and in His son Jesus Christ. And for those who have never placed their trust in God's Son, Jesus, Satan would like you to join him and his fallen angels in the lake of fire reserved for those that turn to the father of lies.

Satan would like you to believe the lies that there is no God, that Jesus is not the risen Savior, and that there are other ways to get to heaven. In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man (person) cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” Some of Satan's lies are that God doesn't care about you, that being a Christian is too much work, that you'll have to clean up your act first, that all Christians are fakes, and that the Bible is just a book of man-made rules to keep us in line. The devil wants you to believe his lies. He is the father of all lies. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own resources, “for he is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44). As a Christian, when you put on the shield of faith, you will be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 6:16). “Without faith it is impossible to please Him (God): for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Years ago someone said, “There are two sides to every story.” If you have been a follower of the devil, due to believing his lies, and you want to come over to the winning side, then this is your time to break free. It's time to call on the Creator of heaven and earth to save your soul. God loves you so much that He sent His own Son, Jesus, to die on the cross in your place and mine (John 3:16). Like the thief on the cross (Luke 23:42), with a heart of repentance and acknowledging your sins, cry out to Jesus, “I believe that you are the risen Savior, the Son of God, remember me.”

Now go find someone with whom to share your new-found faith. And if they won't listen, find someone that will. Today, Christians everywhere are drawing the line in the sand. They are saying “enough is enough.” It's time to stand up and be counted. We are “sinners saved by grace.” We have been bought by the blood of Jesus Christ “unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood” (Revelation 1:5).

We are the children of the King of heaven, “and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:17).

Years ago, at the age of 13, I was asked to join the wrestling team, so I did. At practice, I was chosen to wrestle the kid that was to represent our team at the state tournament. While at practice, he was injured, so I was next in line to go to state. Needless to say, I was not at all comfortable with the idea, being that I didn't have much experience. At my first bout, I knew that if I were to win the battle, I would have to be very aggressive. I did win. I took third place at the state tournament.

The battle that we're fighting today is not a physical one, “for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). As children of the King, we have God on our side. God tells us, “for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

For years I have used this verse when I feel like I'm being attacked. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). Amen.
