Have you ever been called EXTREME?
 
To be extreme is to be different, especially in the way something is being done.  Here is a prime example of extreme behavior.  A friend of mine orders his breakfast a la carte.  Each dish (eggs, bacon, toast, fruit, juice and coffee) is ordered separately instead of all at the same time as is usually done.  Yes, it does cost more; and no, I don't see myself doing the same in the near future.  I personally need my extra money for gas to get home.  
 
Now, let me share with you from the Word of God about four fella's that saw a need to be extreme in order to help bring a friend to Jesus.  Just like an investigative reporter, the apostle Mark reports the detailed dramatic story in Mark 2:1-12.  He stated, "He (Jesus) was in the house.” (Mark 2:1)  Imagine that you are there with some friends (one in need of a miracle, in need of a Savior) in the town of Capernaum where it is reported that the Miracle Worker, the Great Healer, and the Son God Himself, is in a house nearby.  "Immediately many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door.” (Mark 2:2)  Talking about a full house, and being between a rock and a hard place, knowing that this could possibly be a one-time opportunity that you wouldn’t want to miss.  Some could say that a great opportunity could have been missed due to the overcrowded house and the impossibility of getting in, while a small number of people (extreme thinkers) led by their great faith, stepped up to the challenge.  Mark reported what these determined men of faith did next.  "Then they came to Him (Jesus), bringing a paralytic (crippled, disabled person) who was carried by four men.  And when they could not come near Him (Jesus) because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was.  So, when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying." (Mark 2:3-4)  "When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, 'Son, your sins are forgiven you.'” (Mark 2:5)
 
Ephesians 2:8-9 declares, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God."
 
The bold faith of the four men drove these men to carry their friend to Jesus.  The paralytic received the gift of God's favor through his faith (see John1:12).
 
What would you do to get someone to Jesus?  What would you do to get someone to church to hear the living Word, the Bread of Life?  Romans 10:17 declares, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God".
 
Let me share a true story of extreme thinking, and true faith.  While driving past a Secretary of State’s office, a Soulwinner noticed a long line of people formed outside the building waiting to get in.  Being a Soulwinner, he had an assortment of Scripture tracts in his car that had the plan of salvation on the inside, and on the cover a picture of a car that had been in a terrible auto accident.
 
The Soulwinner, being led by the Holy Spirit, parked his car, prayed and started from the front of the line passing out the tracts.  After a few tracts were passed out, people in line began reaching for the tracts believing that the Soulwinner was an employee of that office.  When he had finished passing out the tracts, he believed he had passed out about thirty or so of the life-giving Word in a tract.  Some sow, some reap, but God gives the increase.  Matthew 9:37-38 states, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."
 
God makes the opportunities. We just need to be ready when the opportunities arise. 
 
Here's another true story told by a Soulwinner.  While leaving a Salvation Army store, the Soulwinner walked past 8 to 10 employees sitting along the edge of the building taking a break.  He knew that he had a few tracts in his pocket, but the right ones for this occasion were in his car, and that this was a Soulwinning opportunity given to him by the Spirit of God.  He prayed for boldness and blessings as he went and got enough tracts to give to each person.  The tracts that he handed out had pictures of classic cars on the cover with the Plan of Salvation on the inside.  As he handed out each tract, he said that everybody likes classic cars and that God loves each person very much.  As he went back to his car, he turned to witness the tracts being read.
 
A promise of God that has helped me in my Soulwinning efforts is recorded in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
 
Are you ready to take the next step in Soulwinning and be EXTREME for eternity’s sake?
 
Matthew 28:18-20 states that Jesus gave his disciples their marching orders and those orders have been passed onto us, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.  Amen."
 
Let me share my life's verse that is found in Romans 1:16, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power (DUNAMIS, might) of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek (gentile, you and me)."
 
Now go with the living Word (see Hebrews 4:12), the might of God, and the wisdom of the Holy Spirit; and tell someone that Jesus loves them and wants to be their Savior.  Amen.
